We recently bought our dream home in Vasant Kunj, South Delhi. A flat in a nice, airy location facing the farmhouses was a happy beginning – or so we thought. It checked all the right boxes for us: first floor, sunlight all day, well ventilated, enough for a family of three.
DDA had just given us rooms and walls – no electrical wiring, broken kitchen cabinets, dirty used toilets, and cheap broken tiles in the kitchen and the bathrooms.
Now, we bought the house knowing that renovation would be a natural next step. The process was exciting at first, but to be honest, it is a daunting process if you have no experience taking on a project like home renovation on a budget. There are two scenarios:
- You are not hard pressed on the financial front, and your budget is more than 4 lakhs.
- You HAVE a fixed budget in mind, which is not expandable.
We fall in the second category and have a fixed budget of not more than 4 Lakhs. This is for a 1100 square feet 2BHK flat with two balconies.
